John Dawbyn of Nottor, gent

M, b. say 1540
ChartsAncestors Margaret Wain 12 gen.
It has been possible to reconstructed three early generations of the Dawbyn family of St Stephens by Saltash from information found in the estate papers of the Adams family of Laneast and Egloskerry and listed in the Cornwall Record Office catalogues. Deeds have survived for six separate leases negotiated between 1623 and 1634. The early Dawbyn family lived at Nottor, St Stephens by Saltash in the early 15th century and it is estimated that John would have been born about 1545. Nicholas Dawbyn senior of Nottor, son and heir of Jn. Dawbyn of Nottor gent, was noted as a principal involved in a lease of property dated 20 September 1629. The parish registers for this church give very scanty information and a descent from this early family to Robert Dawbins living there in Mary Dawbins who married Martin Withell there in 1721, has not been found. However it is probable that these three gentlemen were indeed ancestors of Mary.1 John Dawbyn of Nottor, gent died.2
