     Thomas Martyn mariner was born say 1670 I am not sure this Martin is an ancestor. He may have been baptised 19 April 1679 to Samuel and Katherine. He married Joan Reskeys on 22 June 1697 at Padstow, Cornwall, England.1 Thomas Martyn mariner died before 7 January 1719. He was buried on 7 January 1719 at Padstow, Cornwall, England, The Ledgerstone of Thomas and Joan Martyn is in the Padstow churchyard, close to north wall of churchyard 3 metres to east of west gates GV II Ledgerstone. 1719. It is inscribed - In memory of Thomas Martyn o.t.t. Mariner who was buried ye 7th day of January 1719 aged 50 years here also lyeth the body of Joan the wife of the forementioned Thomas who died 13th May 1748 aged 75 years. It consists of a large rectangular slate ledgerstone reset as headstone. Part of the inscription is in a deeply engraved round topped panel with curved shoulders and there is a central rectangular panel. Inscribed in upper and lower case lettering with serifs and the memorial is decorated with leaf scroll friezes and angels heads in relief at the corners. Broken in two parts.2
