I haven't researched the parents for William, but Sandra Frisby connects this William with a baptism at Stoney Stanton on 4 January 1707/8 and son to John Groocock of Great Ashby and Elizabeth Wood of Stoney Stanton. The family is further connected to Groocock at Broughton Astley from c. 1600.Sandra Frisby is an academic in Leicestershire and was particular about the provenance of her research. He married Ann Hall on 7 February 1692 at Barwell, Leicestershire, England. Although Thomas and Ann were married in Barwell, they appear to have settled in Thurlaston following their marriage. It was to be seven years before their daughter Sarah was baptised, son Thomas following two years later. It is possible Ann died in childbirth.2

Thomas was born circa 1640.
He was not listed as paying tax in the Lay Subsidy of 1664 and was probably still living with his parents in Shenton. Sometime before 1666 Thomas settled in Barwell. Although we don't know what property he actually held, we do know something of Thomas's lifestyle from his will and the inventory of his goods. He apparently had enough land (either freehold or leased) to participate in farming because there was a quantity of hay and sacks. However it is appears that he also worked as a maker of custom shoes. This is significant because of the eventual emergance of Barwell as a centre of shoemaking in the area. Possible links of other Turvilles to Barwell are being investigated.
Thomas Turvill sen. of Barwell married Anne (?) say 1665. Anne was to have six children to Thomas and outlived him.
He made a will on 17 November 1712 at Barwell, Leicestershire, England. He made a will on 17 Nov 1712 at Barwell LEI. He bequeathed his goods and chattels in trust to his daughter Sarah. Nevertheless she was required to pay for care for his wife Ann Turville - for her "abode and maintenance in every respect during her naturall life as she hath been maintained and kept by me (that is to say) meat Drink ??? and ???? Apparell and ???? according as shall be needfull according to her age ". Bequests of one shilling were left to his daughter Dorothy Turville and to his granddaughters Ann and Sarah Turville. His son (in-law) Thoams Hightin and daughter Anne Highton were also given one shilling each. Thomas Highton was further nominated to assist his daughter Sarah with the responsibility of executrix. One of the witnesses was a Richard Turville. Their sons Thomas jr and David were not mentioned as both had predeceased their father.
Although Thomas Highton was named as loving son he was in fact a son-in-law. Dorothy Turvile was the second wife of Thomas Turvile Jr and at the time of the making of the will she was already a widow. Dorothy Turvile widow was buried on 5 March 1718 in Barwell. However it is interesting that the second daughter (Sary) Sarah was the residual beneficiary to her father's will. When Thomas died Sarah was unmarried and would proably have had the care of her ageing parents.1 Thomas died before 2 December 1712 at Barwell, Leicestershire, England.1 He was buried on 2 December 1712 at Barwell, Leicestershire, England.2
An inventory of his goods and chattells was prepared on 15 December 1712
It comprised the following:
Rings purse & apparel £ 00-15-00
One Bed in the parlour & ? ? things £ 00-15-00
One hundred and half of Labour made shoes £ 01-5-00
Two little tables a little pott, kettle, pewter dishes, four old chairs in the house £ 00-15-00
For 3 heifers £ 07 -10 -00
For hay £ 4- 00- 00
For sackes £ 1-10-00
Total £16-00-00.1

William Lee Storekeeper of Stanbridge St & Stanhope St. arrived Daylesford in 1862. Although he was listed as a farmer on the shipping index, his father had been a warehouseman and William probably had some experience of storekeeping. He continued the tradition of business activities. During the 1870's he was on the Daylesford Borough Council. Records at the Daylesford Historical Museum indicare that he was the grandfather of Miss Lee (One of the Daylesford Wains spoke of her as a teacher.) He was baptized on 30 June 1837 at Hinckley, Leicestershire, England. William Lee emigrated on 27 December 1859 from Liverpool, Lancashire, England, on the Empire of Peace.. William's age was listed as 21 and was travelling with his brother John stated age 23. John would actually have been 30. Both were listed as farmers. There were 176 adults on board and the voyage was expected to last 140 days.1 He immigrated on 23 May 1860 to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He and his brother John Lee sailed on the Empress of Peace leaving from Liverpoool on 27 December 1859. The Master was Calvert and there were 176 adults aboard. Expected voyage to take 140 days. The ship signed of on 1 May 1860. NOTE this actual date may need to be rechecked.1 He married Emily Pollard on 21 December 1860 at Daylesford, Victoria, Australia. Need to check place as had Creswick.2,3 William was employed at as a Storekeeper at Daylesford, Victoria, Australia, in 1870. William was elected to the Shire Council, Daylesford Borough in 1870 at Daylesford, Victoria, Australia. William Lee was a Pioneer Townsman and Leading Citizen of Daylesford and is included in a composite photograph in the Council Chambers. He was also on the Committee of the Glenlyon, Franklin and District Agricultural Society. William died at age 80 on 15 November 1917 at Caulfield, Victoria, Australia.
