Elizabeth was born before 13 April 1820. There was a note on the baptism record that the date of birth had been added later in the same hand..1 The first post-Reformation Dominican priory in England was established at Hinckley in 1765. Until that time there were probably resident priests at one of the estates of the three prominent Catholic families- Turvilles, Fortescues and Smiths. A Roman Catholic church was built at Hinckley and opened on 12 July 1825. It was a simple building, rectangular in shape with arched windowa The 1829 return of dissenters showed that there were 40 Catholics in Hinckley.
In 1839 a turret witha bell was built with special permission from the Home Office and a Queen Anne font which had been discarded from the Anglican parish of St Mary in 1766 was purchased by Benjamin Lawand presented to the chapel. She was confirmed on 30 November 1834 at St Peter's Roman Catholic, Hinckley, Leicestershire, England.1 She married William Henry Sperry on 10 May 1840 at St Peters Parish Church, Hinckley, Leicestershire, England.2,3,1 Elizabeth died on 5 January 1857 at Hinckley, Leicestershire, England.1,4 She was buried on 11 January 1857 at St Peter's Roman Catholic, Hinckley, Leicestershire, England.1

William was born on 24 March 1865 at Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, England. His father was a gardener at The Forge, Winshill, on the outskirts of Burton. It is interesting that as the eldest son he was not named after either his father or his paternal grandfather but after Sarah's father..1 If there was a Catholic church in Burton, William was probably baptised there but a record has not yet been found. However it was not long before the family moved back to Hinckley where his brother James Edward was born.2
He was a student at the primary school at Daylesford, Victoria, Australia, in 1875.
Following his father's marriage to Ruth it seems that William left the farm to find work independently. He joined a Surveyors' team working in the Otway Ranges. in 1884. He was admitted to the hospital on 9 April 1885 at Humffray St., Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. The admission was recommended by Dr Woinarski. His birthplace was given as Burton on Trent, occupation labourer, age 20, single. Religion was C of E. Infectious diseases? CHECK why i made this note.3

He married Emily Cromack Smith on 28 December 1887 at St Lukes Church of England at St Luke's Anglican church, Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia.4
Following their marriage William Henry Wain and Emily Cromack Smith lived at Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. This was where their two daughters were born. On 25 December 1894 at Daylesford, Victoria, Australia, William Henry and Emily took their three children to the church in Daylesford for baptism. Gwendoline Sarah was 6, Lilian Elizabeth 3 and Thomas James 4 months. A J Collocott was the minister.
William Henry Wain was levied rates by the Shire Council of Glenlyon for his property in Musk Creek from 1895 to 1901.5 A Federal referendum listed William as head of household in 1899 at Musk Creek, Victoria, Australia. His occupation was a farmer.6
Sometime after the birth of their younger son in 1904, William and Emily moved to Maryborough. William registered to vote in 1908 at Maryborough, Victoria, Australia. His occupation at this time was a manager.7 A meeting was held in the council chambers of the Maryborough Town Hall on Monday evening 19 May 1915 for the purpose of oficially forming a boy scout troop in Maryborough. This was decided upon, on the motion of Messrs D. Berriman and W. W. Gay, supported by Messrs W. Watchorn and I. Solomon. Mr W. Neville was appointed sacretary and Mr W. H. Wain scout-master.8 He made a will on 16 January 1937 at Maryborough, Victoria, Australia.9 William died at age 75 on 27 July 1940 at Mildura, Victoria, Australia.10 He was buried after 27 July 1940 at Maryborough, Victoria, Australia.
